We're in Conroe Tx on a megapick

Your Ad Here I got the term "megapick" from one of my favorite shows... "American Pickers".

Tigger and I were headed east after getting off the ferry from Galveston to the mainland (can you believe it's FREE? How can they do that?) when I got a call from an internet friend. He is helping a friend liquidate the friends deceased uncles worldy posessions.

From what I've learned so far, the uncle died 3 years ago at the young age of 58. At some point in his life he inherited 1 million+ dollars and became a recluse, living in a 2400 sq ft home with his mother.

They both obsessively collected all kinds of things. I guess the uncle was very smart and had OCD big time. I don't know what the connection is with high intelligence and insanity and hoarding but... I'm glad I'm not genius smart.

I'm looking forward to seeing everything from low mileage rare muscle cars to unopened cases of beer from the 1920's to every national geographic magazine from the 1930's to 2008 to an elephant collection with 600+ elephants ranging in size from 4 feet tall to palm sized.

Looking at the address from google maps shows many out-buildings and at least 10 vehicles parked neatly outside. Many more are inside I am told.

To say I am excited would be an understatement. I'll post some pics and details of the place tomorrow.

  1. Wow who cleans up after all those elephants!?!?

I love rummaging through old stuff and finding all sorts of cool things. Wouldn't like to take them all home though... can't stand clutter.

I bet the pics will be really cool!

  6. This will be one of the highlights of your trip. Remember Mrs. Menard's house as a kid? We would go there and ask her to show us all her collections. Have fun Pickin and Grinnin...rene
